The Greatest Things Alive is the opening theme song of the English Super Smash Brothers anime. It was performed by the All-American Rejects.

Although Mario doesn't have a theme in particular, this song has been used as one for him several times.

Ending animationEdit

The first animation sequence in this version are Mario and Luigi jumping on the top of the tower.

The next group of animations are the same as in the main opening (Mario sneaks into Bowser's castle). However, the differences in these animations are that ending credits replace the ones used in the opening. Also, the scene of Peach waving while running past is replaced by a pan shot of Tiff, Tuff, Fololo, Falala, Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta Knight. The animation sequence following this include portions of the first battle between Mario and Sonic. After this, the normal animations resume, starting from the sequence involving Daisy chopping up lettuce and cooking rice, and Ash throws a Poké Ball to call out Tepig. The sequence prior to the Wario Brothers remains intact. This is followed by the Shadow Birds (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, XD001), Lugia, Ho-Oh, Victini, and Kris the Mew flyby animation, as was the case in the first version of this opening. Unlike the original ending though, the silhouette is replaced with Tabuu's reveal.

VariantsEdit

There are many variants of the opening animation:

  1. Perfect Best 2 DVD: The original animation.
  2. The two paragraphs of text introducing Super Smash Bros. is re-added.
  3. Animation updated to include Sonic, Tails, Amy, Cream, and Knuckles.
  4. Animation updated to include Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede, Tiff, Tuff, Fololo, and Falala.
  5. Includes Princess Daisy.
  6. Animation updated to include Ash, Brock, Misty, Dawn, May, Tracy, Pikachu and some Pokémon (Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott).
  7. Animation updated to include Bomberman. Wario and Waluigi are removed, as is the flying characters scene, and is replaced by a footage based on the Super Smash Bros. Brawl video game.
  8. Animation updated to include Ganondorf.
  9. Animation updated to include a robotic Mewtwo.
  10. Animation updated to include Reshiram and Zekrom.
  11. Animation updated to include Victini.
  12. Animation updated to include Tabuu.

There are also variants of the music itself:

  • The movie version has an alternate lead-in.
  • The track on the Perfect Best 2 album has a slightly different audio mix compared to the original single.
  • The Perfect Best 2 album also includes a ballad version of the song.
