Shadow Mew (Japanese: ダークミュウ Dark Mew), codenamed ZX001, is a Mew accidentally corrupted by an unknown organizations in its egg. He is believed to be the immortal Shadow Pokémon, completely immune to all purification (including the Purify Chamber). As a sign of his corruption, like Shadow Lugia, Mew's appearance changes from that of a normal Mew. Shadow Mew has been only seen in Pokémon ZX: The Dark Dimensions.

HistoryEdit

Shadow Mew made a couple of cameo appearances as an egg at the start of the comic. Eevee wants to follow him to the hidden grounds. During the comic, Shadow Mew is mentioned often, but never seen. Primal Arceus (from Shane's Adventure), tells Eevee that it was he who created Shadow Mew as an egg, and reveals that he has perfected him to be immune to purification.

Later, Shadow Mew, in Hyper Forme, started hatching from the egg and appears around Shadow Island. Eevee finally confronts him afterwards. After befriending Mew, Eevee will find that Arceus was right—Shadow Mew cannot be purified through fighting, using colognes, or by any other normal means. However, the Purify Cave, which was jointly run by Jirachi, will be able to purify him.

In the TCGEdit

Shadow Mew was featured in the TCG as a promotional card and was available through the Super Jump Punch! campaign. The English version was included in the bootleg DVD releases of Chalkzone: The Adventures of the Amazin' River along with Shadow Lugia EX. This card was released as a Jumbo card and was therefore not legal to use in tournaments or official events, due to its unusual 700 hit-points and its only attack, Shadow Storm, has an incredible 2000 damage (also the highest amount of damage on any known card). It has the same artwork as the Pokémon ZX cover art of the comic.
